"He was the greatest man who ever, in any age or country, applied himself to the important work of uniting art with industry." Prime Minister William Gladstone on Josiah Wedgwood, 1863
In 2009, Wedgwood will celebrate its 250th anniversary. Wedgwood’s remarkable story spans two and a half centuries of discovery, vision, experimentation, industry and exquisite design. From its humble British beginnings to iconic global status, Wedgwood has a rich history. Today its heritage continues to be embraced by its designers and used to guide its future.
2009 will commemorate Wedgwood’s glorious history: the magnificent efforts of their intrepid founder Josiah Wedgwood; their illustrious, sometimes royal, patrons; the array of designers they have collaborated with; and the craftsmen who still hand press wafer-thin slivers of bas-relief at their home in Stoke-on-Trent.
To kick off a year of celebrations they've added a mischievous addition to their classic china, the Will Broome for Wedgwood service, that we will be using exclusively at FLASH.
A 12.5% discretionary service charge and an optional £1 per head donation to the Royal Academy will be added to your bill
